The meditation of non-belief automatically calls authority of any kind into question.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comBlogger135125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2117678574171294006.post-78058954511759063632021-07-17T18:58:00.003-06:002021-07-17T18:58:38.640-06:00Atheists are a Different Species<p> When I came out as atheist back in 2003 I thought I could use logic to evangelize the great relief of shedding the repressive shroud of religiosity. It didn't end well. There was nothing but frustration and confusion. I couldn't understand why folks couldn't absorb the logic and draw reasonable conclusions to free themselves from their cults.</p><p>Since then I have buried myself in the study of the psychology and neurology of human behavior. This was years before Donald Trump ran for president in 2016. If it wasn't for him, I would not have seen the veneer of our society peeled away with such violence to expose what I am now convinced is a major stage in human evolution.</p><p>There are two human species occupying the same space at this time. This happened before when Neanderthals coexisted with humans "between 41,030 to 39,260 years ago" for <a href="http://www.sci-news.com/othersciences/anthropology/science-neanderthals-coexisted-humans-02111.html" target="_blank">more than 5,000 years</a>.</p><p>Back then there was a specific adaptation that must have been refused by the Neanderthals that caused them to disappear in a puff of smoke. Of course this is not the case, over the period of 5,000 years they eventually passed on their genetics by some interbreeding with homo sapiens, but the Neanderthal way of life did result in their demise in a notably short period of time.</p><p>I will have to add to my to-do list, researching anthropologists findings on the survival strategy disparity between Neanderthals and Homo sapiens.</p><p>Today, we have two separate species of humans, but there is no overt physical difference because the industrial revolution has standardized the nutrients made available for consumption by everyone. What we must rely on is the differences in cognitive capacity.</p><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Tribalism between separate Christian denominations despite Christ's teachings of unity.</li><li>Suspended emotional development. <a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WaEw6y2386w/W_2YVBIKU7I/AAAAAAAAZ2w/aR5Pifeee4QlfmU9hfLJDHs2uVSJRWKBwCLcBGAs/s1600/HappyHolidays_v001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WaEw6y2386w/W_2YVBIKU7I/AAAAAAAAZ2w/aR5Pifeee4QlfmU9hfLJDHs2uVSJRWKBwCLcBGAs/s320/HappyHolidays_v001.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
It's that time of the year again. Happy Holidays!<br />
<br />
When you look at all the fighting going on in the Middle East between radicalized denominations of various religions, going on for literally thousands of years, you must appreciate what our constitution says at the very beginning:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Amendment I<br />
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.</blockquote>
Do you wonder why people who are not religious, become offended when an organized church plants their religious symbols on public property, which is paid for by taxes, paid also by non-religious people?<br />
<br />
Would you get offended if a business put up a billboard or a company logo on the front of your court house, public library or state capitol building?<br />
<br />
What's more insulting is that churches responsible for putting their religious symbols on public property, are tax-exempt. Their symbols on public property is by default political, so they should start paying taxes.<br />
<br />
Planting your flag on territory not your own is an act of aggression. Planting religious symbols on public, tax-supported property is an insult to military service members whose duty is to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, against all enemies, foreign and domestic."<br />

<a href="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fe/Foster_Bible_Pictures_0069-1_Moses_Throws_the_Tablet_of_Stone.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fe/Foster_Bible_Pictures_0069-1_Moses_Throws_the_Tablet_of_Stone.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Not long after Moses came down from the mountain with the Ten Commandments, God had much more to tell Moses that most Christians probably never learned in Sunday School, like the value of flesh. Yes. Flesh.<br />
<br />
<blockquote>
<b>Leviticus 27: 1-9 </b><span style="font-weight: normal;">(King James Version)</span>27 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,<br />
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the Lord by thy estimation.<br />
3 And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary.<br />
4 And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.<br />
5 And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels.<br />
6 And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver.<br />
7 And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then thy estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels.<br />
8 But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the priest value him.<br />
9 And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the Lord, all that any man giveth of such unto the Lord shall be holy.</blockquote>
But wait. Something is missing:<br />
<br />
<table border="2" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" style="width: 337px;">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td width="108">Age</td>
<td width="87">Male</td>
<td width="112">Female</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>20 - 60</td>
<td>50 shekels</td>
<td>30 shekels</td>

<tr>
<td>1 month - 5 yrs</td>
<td>5 shekels</td>
<td>3 shekels</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>0 - 1 month</td>

</tbody></table>
<br />
What does this mean for children under the age of one month and people over the age of 60?<br />
According to the God of the Bible, Abortion, Physician Assisted Suicide, and even Infanticide means nothing.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><!--492a5ac0599d44b7bfcec9e307c5195e--></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2117678574171294006.post-14885077774875206132017-01-06T11:14:00.001-06:002017-01-06T11:14:33.792-06:00End of Atheism as a MovementAtheists often get caught up in intellectual pissing contests among themselves so often they never consider how to communicate their wisdom to everyone else in a respectful manner, so they become despised. It starts with a small inner circle of thugs who can make an idea appear to be popular or unpopular. They use violence to make a point. Then gradually others will follow until there is a big enough following that it seems normal.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The secular war will expose the inner-circle thuggery and pop the balloon of fake populism. Then you will be left with nothing but facts and real morality of empathy and fairness, not the fake morality of indoctrination and dogma.</div>

College shouldn't be the beginning of your gradual acclimation to your future alone in the outside world. That should have started in high school.<br />
<br />
Based on the minimum working age in the U.S., the minimum age you can start driving a car, the minimum age you can join the military, the minimum age you can start smoking, your introduction to self-sufficiency begins long before you graduate from high school.<br />
<br />
But, there seems to be a trend among college students to limit their exposure to the harsh realities of the real world, the same luxuries they had under the blanket of protection provided by their parents. They probably still have parental control search engine filters activated on their college laptops.<br />
<br />
With the possible exception of students on a debate team, the vast majority of high school students are taught rudimentary functional work skills. Is this correct? Take a quick two question survey:<br />

Most unsettling about the real world is being unprepared for messages that are false or dangerously misleading. Living at home and going to school in a carefully supervised environment leaves you without a healthy sense of skepticism. The most important lesson is that you must be skeptical of every piece of information placed in your hands, even if it's from someone you trust, because they may not know better themselves.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Critical Thinking Skills are essential for finding the truth and learning who can be trusted.</div>
<div class="blogger-post-footer"><!--492a5ac0599d44b7bfcec9e307c5195e--></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2117678574171294006.post-33692984036681936062016-08-25T15:06:00.000-06:002016-08-25T15:06:34.904-06:00Pornography DefinedI recently commented on a news report posted by Newsy <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zlcsc4H-Yr8" target="_blank">about a predator who used pornography as a manual for torturing his victim</a>. I got several responses by people who couldn't distinguish the difference between pornography and normal sexual activity. I found this very disturbing so I must elaborate on what I understand are the boundaries of morality in this matter.<br />
<br />
First remember that you can do what ever you want as long as your decisions are informed and consensual.<br />
<br />
Consent is more complicated than you think. It doesn't only extend to just one other individual, but a multitude of individuals in the future who may be affected by your decision, such as future sexual partners of your immediate sexual partner, and overall health care expenses accrued by local medical facilities, and the health insurance industry as a whole which may affect your taxes.<br />
<br />
Morality is founded on empathy and fairness. If you can see from the perspective of other people and imagine with some accuracy how your decisions will affect them, congratulations, your are not a Sociopath.<br />
<br />
If on the other hand you post pics of your ex-girlfriend on 4chan, you can be considered a Sociopath.<br />
<br />
If you coerce people into sexually explicit performances or activity by exploiting their economic fragility or by seizing and withholding their personal property such as a passport or other valuables, you may be considered a human trafficker under international law.<br />
<br />
The term "pornography" should be applied to any media that depicts person or persons who did not consent to participation in a controversial activity.<br />
<br />
The term "art" should be applied to any media depicting persons in any activity with full consent by all parties involved to the activity and its publication.<br />

Men typically think it's absurd that women want to be treated like men. I can say that because I am a man, so in typical brutish male thinking, I infer simple images in my mind of tomboyish women asserting themselves in typical male fashion, overflowing with testosterone.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In the wake of legislative progress giving women more legal protections and rights such as voting, the right to inherit property, the right to make personal medical decisions about their own bodies, some men who relied on the state to give them a sense of superiority over someone, anyone, were crushed because they had no other means of attaining superiority.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The backlash against women achieving more rights and more equal treatment has been <a href="http://www.dictionary.com/browse/misogyny" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">misogyny</a>, The response to misogyny that arose out of the women's rights movement is <a href="http://www.dictionary.com/browse/feminism?s=t" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">feminism</a>. But the definition of feminism should be autonomy instead of equality.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Because women are literally physically different from men, pure equality is practically impossible. The idea using the word "equality" is actually an impediment because it creates the thought of absurdity in the minds of so many men.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If on the other hand, women fought for social and economic autonomy and justice, it wouldn't seem so absurd. Men might even begin to understand why there is feminist activism. They might begin to listen instead of obsessvely <a href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=trolling" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">trolling</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anita_Sarkeesian" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Anita Sarkeesian</a> because they feel their institutionally fabricated sense of superiority draining away.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Misogyny is no part of real atheism. One can only arrive at real atheism through fully developed critical thinking skills. You cannot claim to use logic or science and still have <a href="http://www.dictionary.com/browse/bigot" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">bigoted</a> tendencies.<br />
<br />
Some will say equality is the correct word to use because the salience of the word is needed in the fight for women to achieve a modicum of fair treatment by men. It's hard to tell where within rhetoric cooperation ends an conflict begins.</div>

Who are these self-proclaimed Christians who keep demanding prayer in public anywhere?<br />
<br />
Other religions might allow prayer in public, but such a display carries the impression of arrogant self-righteousness and opens one up to easy accusations of hypocrisy, something even atheists can agree that Jesus was trying to avoid, according to scripture.<br />
<br />
Very young children have not quite gained the understanding of social consequences. They understand how to avoid punishment but not how their own behavior can make other people feel about them for the long-term. They need to be guided toward seeing from the perspective of others.<br />
<br />
Did you ever notice that certain people cannot be convinced that they are wrong about something until it happens directly to them or someone very close to them? Did you notice that they also tend to be religious conservatives? This is just some of the damage caused by replacing empathy training with prayer.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><!--492a5ac0599d44b7bfcec9e307c5195e--></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2117678574171294006.post-35113364884935059872016-02-23T10:37:00.000-06:002016-02-23T10:37:09.863-06:00Social BoundariesFear of the unknown controls all of us and is the basis for all social and cultural separatist movements. Only those who have mastered real logic and critical thinking skills can overcome their fears, and overcome their masters. This is why they say "managing atheists is like trying to herd cats."<br />
<br />
People become attached to groups or subcultures in an effort to feel like they belong. Psychologists call it "affinity-seeking behavior" that affords a sense of validation. Most people are social animals, seeking to belong somewhere, in some group, among "friends."<br />
<br />
Many subcultures, cults, or groups must adhere to specific tenets. Successfully passing regular, ritualistic loyalty tests provides validation which reinforces the psychological bond to the organization.<br />
<br />
When a member is confronted by someone who has opposing beliefs, they fear that the influence may disrupt their performance or their standing within the community. Their biggest fear is banishment or rejection. They must reject arguments against their own belief systems, even at the cost of logic or reason. The only way to reach someone under such influence is to find some little things in common, and keep them focused on those things. Gradually steer them toward critical thinking skills and logic.<br />
<br />
Feminism as a topic for discussion at large atheist gatherings makes perfect sense because atheism is supposed to reject all forms of gender role distinctions, because they are codified in religious doctrine. It's perfectly reasonable to raise awareness of misogynist behavior and propaganda because it is founded in the psychological influence of religion over many generations. Despite self-proclaimed atheism, some people are still shackled to certain assumptions that were formed from exposure to religion.<br />

If the first article on the list doesn't make your blood boil, the other stuff might.
It seems the religious are becoming more hyperbolic and extreme as they look across their Sunday morning church pews and see the backs of fewer heads. Those backs of heads that remain are white-haired and hung low with arthritis and osteoporosis.<br />
<br />
They are getting desperate enough to incite violence upon the rest of society, which is leaving them behind.<br />
<br />
We simply cannot have people like this in government anymore. Scott Allen is up for election in 2016, and everyone from Wisconsin's 97th district must be presented a progressive alternative. Especially one who supports Bernie Sanders ideas.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><!--492a5ac0599d44b7bfcec9e307c5195e--></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2117678574171294006.post-12076202294284706522015-11-22T12:56:00.000-06:002015-12-03T14:02:22.258-06:00The Road to Hell<style type="text/css">

As the old saying goes: "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." It seems to be a derived from another saying "Hell is full of good wishes and desires. Heaven is full of good works."<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well this sounds familiar, no? How about praying for the victims of the French terror attacks? Getting on your knees and praying sounds like an excellent candidate for a good intention.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But it gets worse.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What you might think are actual good works, can go terribly wrong. Some works go wrong because they are not thought out very well. Other works go wrong intentionally because of a hidden economic agenda.</div>

The toll that religion is taking on the world is almost immeasurable, but the cause is rather simple. Not just a lack of proper education, but a deliberate suppression of education and the spread of misinformation that perpetuates a state of dependence on the charity of the church.<br />
<br />Advances in technology related to food production and health care contributed greatly to population growth, but literacy and education should offset the population growth against the availability of resources such as water.<br />

Without the propaganda of human suffering, the contributions to religious charitable organizations would dry up. <a href="http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm/bay/content.view/cpid/42#.VgcG3XpViko" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Charity Navigator</a> shows the growth of charitable organizations as a firewall solution against population growth. As I was browsing through YouTube I discovered a series of videos with titles that began 'Everything that is wrong with...' and whatever movie they were reviewing. These reviewers find holes in movie plots and there are so many in practically every plot that I became concerned about what kind of effect the media has on the public's ability to solve problems by understanding real cause and effect.<br />
<br />
It's one thing to say "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5dSyT50Cs8" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">God is an ever receding pocket of scientific ignorance</a>" and assume that education and science is progressing, but there are forces out there that seek to exploit ignorant people for profit. These forces are threatened by science and education.<br />
<br />
They tried book-burning, they tried overt censorship and they now have taken over state and local boards of education and <a href="http://www.counterpunch.org/2015/08/04/university-bureaucracy-as-organized-crime/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">college boards of trustees</a>. They choose and edit your child's textbooks. They choose your child's college professors. However, this is manipulation on the surface. In the field of Communication we call this "Information Gate-keeping," or more appropriately "Knowledge Gate-keeping."<br />
<br />
There may be another, more subliminal form of altering someone's critical thinking skills, by distorting the perception of cause and effect in popular media. Communication students recognize this as framing or contextual manipulation. In Journalism and Cinema they use techniques called Montage (a sequence of images or events that suggests cause and effect) and Juxtaposition (two or more images or objects appearing side-by-side to suggest a relationship). Some of the best examples are the <a href="http://www.newseum.org/todaysfrontpages/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">front pages of newspapers</a>. Some of the shocking stories on the front page have a halo effect on how some readers feel about other stories juxtaposed on the same page.<br />
<br />
Still deeper down the rabbit hole is recurring combinations of events in cinema and television that literally train our brains to make false assumptions and expectations about our real outside world. I'm struggling here to understand why so many people who don't even have any investments in denying climate change, still insist that it's not caused by people. Maybe they are the most vulnerable victims of exposure to years of contextual manipulation in the mass media that broke their critical thinking skills. Or, as I suggested in previous posts, they just may not have the genes for critical thinking.<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MUukgwhaoTg/VU4hK5CgkTI/AAAAAAAAMwQ/l502T5QRUD4/s1600/PragmatismInEducation.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MUukgwhaoTg/VU4hK5CgkTI/AAAAAAAAMwQ/l502T5QRUD4/s200/PragmatismInEducation.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>
The short answer is no, but that's an over-simplification. Teaching Creationism is even less practical. The current curriculum and debate over creationism and evolution is designed to stump education and incite division and fighting on both sides.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Creationism does not explain how bacteria become resistant over time to antibiotics. Starting a lesson on Natural Selection with Darwin and working your way toward genetic mutations that cause bacteria to adapt to toxins, is backwards.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Our understanding of genetics makes it more practical today to start with the tiny, generational steps in evolution that occur with each cell division and the tiny, almost unnoticeable mutations that occur in DNA with every new generation of an organism.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's important to understand the impact of environmental conditions on the adaptation and survival of an organism. When a bacteria is exposed to toxins, most will die off, but there will be a small number that, through DNA mutation, survive in the new environment. This raises questions about whether the adaptation to the toxin was intelligent, or random chance.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The statistics involved in calculating how many bacteria survive an attack by antibiotics suggests that adaptive mutations occur not because of the presence of antibiotics, but despite it. In other words, there will always be rare mutations of offspring in any species. Some will be capable of surviving a drastic change in the environment and some will not be capable of surviving in a normal environment.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Biology throws a wide net of genetic mutations when it comes to reproduction of a species.Nature governs which members survive and which members thrive with superior features. The superior members of a species then dominate the inferior members which whither and die. This applies just as much to weeds overcrowding a vegetable garden as it does to human poverty overcrowding the avarice of a civilization's elite, depending on where your social values reside.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The genetic mutations are so small with each generation that it's hard to identify an intermediary fossil between two drastically different versions of the same species.</div>

Religion in the U.S. is losing its influence and people are leaving religion in droves. The remaining extremists are becoming more isolated and marginalized, and more extreme with their rhetoric. The extremists are preparing for violence.<br />
<br />
The American Family Association (AFA) published<a href="http://www.afa.net/bigotrymap" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> a map of "Anti-Christian Bigots."</a> A tool for mentally unbalanced extremists to find their target. Of course they would deny it's purpose, but what other motive is there?<br />
<br />
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) <a href="http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-files/groups/american-family-association" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">lists the AFA as a hate group</a>. The <a href="http://www.splcenter.org/what-we-do/hate-and-extremism" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">SPLC has a detailed archive of extremists as well.</a><br />

We can't ignore them and assume that religions will fight among themselves, like <a href="http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2013/08/10/210768494/protestants-catholics-clash-in-belfast-dozens-hurt" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland</a>. or <a href="http://www.cfr.org/peace-conflict-and-human-rights/sunni-shia-divide/p33176?cid=ppc-Google-grant-sunni_shia_infoguide&gclid=Cj0KEQjwlYqoBRDajuaTvsyq1PQBEiQAEhSjnA4X3zi9LEYXuYcPQD73Fw-at4_c3C5FRZMLMcWOuMQaAlLS8P8HAQ#!/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">the Shiah and Sunni conflict</a>, or the ongoing "<a href="http://www.cfr.org/iran/sunni-vs-shi-religious-rivalry-iraq-beyond-rush-transcript-federal-news-service-inc/p9164" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Armageddon</a>" in the Middle East. Now they are all targeting the non-religious. Their frustration will grow and they will become violent as their ideological influence fades into oblivion.<br />
<br />
The first of their "soft targets" has been abortion clinics. <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/09/threats-against-abortion-clinics-increased-2015_n_6581536.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Threats and intimidation has dramatically increased since 2010</a>. The LGBT community is slightly more difficult for them to find but when they do, <a href="http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/30/1137309/-The-LGBT-Civil-Rights-Backlash-with-graphs#" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">the odds of confrontations getting violent has skyrocketed as more states legalize gay marriage</a>.<br />
<br />
It's getting exceedingly difficult to remain tolerant. We face the possibility of regressing into a long, dark period in our history. I hope we can win with only reason and time.<br />
